I seem to be on a roll. Here is another entry for Akeli's concept art contest. This time my entry is a military type garb, for cheetahs. I was discussing the contest with my brother, while I was drawing my previous entry and eventually we started talking what kinds of armor felines would want to wear. You see, unlike humans, cats are already quite strong and often don't really need additional protection. So any armor they do wear, would have to be the sort that enhances their natural abilities, or at least does not hamper them.
So I came up with the idea that some creatures, like cheetahs, might want to wear armor which supports and strengthens their body, so they could run better. But a cheetah isn't very strong, so if it were to serve in an army, it wouldn't be as a fighter. It wouldn't be able to serve as a courier either, because it is a sprinter, not a long-distance runner. So then my brother came up with the idea of cheetahs serving as battle field messengers and scouts. A battle field is typically confined, so a cheetah might be able to cross it at top speed, before it becomes fatigued. It could carry written (or relay spoken) orders from higher officers to other regiments. They could also function as scouts.

Since they aren't expected to fight, the cheetah scouts do not wear heavy armor or weapons. They just wear whatever they need to run faster. Anything else would just slow them down, and is discarded. Leather straps on the legs help support and strengthen them. Small earth valui stones are present to improve the animal's grip. The toes and claws are left uncovered, so they can also help improve grip. Some of the scouts also wear air valui amulets, which help them breathe more efficiently. The shoulder guards are the only real piece of armor. They are light-weight and bear the animal's regiment symbol. The cheetahs carry document holders (usually with a cap on it, to keep the documents from tumbling out). Running at 90 miles per hour tends to leave one quite breathless, making it harder to relay spoken orders.
