Stuff of Legend tutorial: Finishing up
July, 2007

The comic is done, but it still needs to be prepared before you can put it on the internet. It's... well... It's too big. Let's shrink it a bit. In the top menu select 'Image - Image Size'. Make sure the proportions are locked before you change anything.
I always shrink the page down to 50% of its original size. It may seem silly to draw a larger page, than the one you will eventually be publishing. Why shouldn't you just draw a page of the correct size in one go? Well, for one, you can cram more details into a page if you start with a larger original. And another reason would be that a page will often look better once you've made it smaller. Any mistakes you may have made, will usually appear much less serious after the page is shrunken down to size.

There is a danger in this technique, though. You need to always keep in mind what the page will look like after it's been made smaller. If you're not careful, your page will be reduced to unintelligible scribbles. That's what you get if you put too many small details in tha page. This is why I often zoom out to about 50% during the entire production process. That way I can check if the page will not become too crowded.

Oh, and before I forget: don't save the shrunken Photoshop file. You'll want the Photoshop file to be as big as you had it, when you drew the page. You'll never know when you might need the fullsize file in the future (for instance, to correct those pesky typo's).

The last step is to watermark the page. You may or may not have noticed this, but I always hide my logo on my work. I always put it in different spot too. It's to avoid theft and all that. I normally reduce the logo's transparency to about 10%, so it doesn't stand out too much.
Most people don't even notice it. ;)

Now page 47 is done. You can see the end result here.
That's the end of this tutorial. I hope you enjoyed to read it! ^_^
